Let's take a look!

Useful Visa Guide

The following below shows you some new terms you should notice during your application if you are a first-timer.

*Multiple/Single Entry:

With a multiple entry visa, applicants can enter and exit Vietnam as many times as they wish within the time validity granted. Meanwhile, single entry only allows visitor to enter and exit only one time. For those who are going to visit Vietnam’s neighbors after landing in Vietnam, and then come back to fly home, you will need to apply multiple entry visas. If you apply single entry under this circumstance, you should take flight at the last country you are staying or you will have to apply for a new Vietnam visa in order to get back. We recommend any long-time visitor to apply multiple entry visas instead of single ones.

*Visa Approval Letter:

This letter is vital when Australian applicants apply for a Vietnam visa on arrival. It will allow the applicants to get on board and pick up the full visa at arrival airport in Vietnam and often sent in the confirmation email before your departure. Normally, visa approval letter is issued for a group of tourists. It means your name will be in the list with other applicants. However, it doesn’t matter unless there are some mistakes in your cases. If you detect any errors, you should notice and inform the travel/visa agent  to correct immediately. If there is no problem with its accuracy, don’t forget to print it out before getting on board.

*Date Of Arrival:

If you are confused with the definition of date of arrival, be kindly reminded that date of arrival is the date you intend to enter Vietnam, not the date you submit your visa application letter. From that date, you can enter Vietnam at any time you wish, but make sure that it is not EARLIER than that date. Otherwise, you will have to come back to your country or leave Vietnam at once.

Potential problems during the process

These are some of the foreseeing problems that might happen during the process. Beware of them in readiness and make your trip hassle-free.

1. Visa on arrival is inapplicable for overland/sea crossing

Never forget that visa on arrival is only available with air travelers. With land border crossing or cruise traveling, visa on arrival holds no legality.

2. Visa approval letter should NOT be missed

Any problems with the visa approval letter can lead to serious problems. For example, if your full name in your visa approval letter doesn’t match the one in your passport, this should be concerned. You will have to wait up for the new one being processed for you. If you don’t bring visa approval letter along, you are not allowed to get on board under normal circumstances, not even when it can hold you up for a long time at the arrival airport. Hence, be sure the letter is available and correct at least until you get the full visa on your passport.

3. Lack of required documents/required documents are not qualified

Make sure that you have checked the requirements for documents to receive Vietnam visa for Australian citizens and prepare everything carefully. Be reminded again that picking up visa at the arrival airport in Vietnam can only be done if you hand out:

  • An original passport with at least 6 month validity,
  • Passport-sized photo, visa approval letter,
  • Completed entry and exit form,
  • Visa stamping fee in cash in USD/ VND.

4. Don’t spell it wrong!

When you are in the middle of providing personal and visa information, pay attention to spelling to make sure that the information are totally correct. Your full name must be exactly the same as in your passport. If you apply via email through travel agent, your email has also to be correct so that you can receive the visa approval letter sent to you.
